All signs have their own constellation in the sky and a fascinating origin story.

For example, Aries is personified by the image of a ram and is ruled by Mars. The history of this sign is much deeper than we think – it dates back to ancient Egyptian astronomy. The deity Amon-Ra, a man with a ram’s head, is an Aries familiar to his contemporaries.

Taurus interacts with Aphrodite and is guided by Venus. He gets his form from the Greek god Zeus, who took the form of a light bull to steal Europa, the princess of the Phoenicians.

The shape of Gemini comes from the myths of the Greeks, and more specifically from the story of two brothers, Castor and Pollux. Pollux was the child of Zeus and Castor was one of the superior Spartans. After Castor’s death, Pollux persuaded his father to bring him back to life, but Zeus took a different path and united the brothers in heaven – so Gemini was born, ruled by Mercury.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Judging by Greek myths, he was in heaven because of the crab Karkinos and Hercules. The crab bit Hercules on the leg, the latter became enraged and killed him. Hera, who was at enmity with the demigod, decided to put Karkinos to the stars in heaven as a sign of remembrance.

The celestial lion appeared from behind the Nemean lion, which Hercules also killed. The hero strangled the predator and saved the civilians, and Zeus glorified this victory by placing the lion in the sky. This sign is ruled by the Sun.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury. According to legend, Astraea was the goddess of innocent people, but on Earth, sins and deviousness became so much that Astraea left our world and ascended into heaven.

Venus rules Libra. The ancient Romans claimed that Libra was the sign of justice. They are in the hands of Astraea, who was mentioned earlier.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. According to myths, Babylon had patrons of the god Shamash, male scorpions. They set him free by day and shut him up at night.

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. The appearance of the sign is associated with the god Nergal of Babylon, who was a centaur and shot with a bow.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and its image is the goat. It is associated with Zeus’ adoptive mother Amalthea, who gave him the milk of the goat after the battle with Kronos.

Aquarius is patronized by Uranus. The sign is depicted as a man with a jug, Ganymede, who was stolen by an eagle. As a result, Ganymede became the cupbearer of Zeus.

Pisces is ruled by Neptune. The image of Pisces appeared because of Aphrodite and her child Eros, who hid from Typhon in the guise of fish in the starry sky.
